The closing stage of the second online pre-qualifier for WCG Sweden took place today. The final consisting of fnatic and Evilzone was never played as fnatic forfeited.
The final in the second online pre-qualifier for WCG Sweden was to be an interesting match as fnatic faced Evilzone. The match did however not get to be played, as fnatic (just like last year) forfeited the match. This lead to Evilzone winning the second online pre-qualifier, but fnatic is still qualified.
With fnatic forfeiting the final, the team might face the fact, should they face SK Gaming in the final, that SK Gaming will have the advantage of map choice. The reason for fnatic even playing the pre-qualifier is that the team went on stage at Samsung European Championship 2008 with fnatic shirts, with sponsor prints. The punishment was that fnatic would not have an auto-berth for the Swedish National WCG finals this year.
The third placing match was also struck by forfeit as AndThenSome.se gave Begrip the third place. Only one qualifier remains, the drop-in qualifier at the DreamHack Skelleftå.
Following teams have qualified for the LAN finals:
The LAN finals will take place at DreamHack Skellefteå, taking place 26-28th of September.
